A Place Where you can forget if you are dating your Girl Friend or the Nature. Narkanda is a Hill Station in Shimla, Situated approx. 65 KMs away on Shimla Rampur Road. Like any other Hill Station, It brings beautiful Landscapes and Tall Mountain views to your table as a traveller. This experience of traveling to Narkanda is Personal. I had my soul mate to accompany me on this trip however the serene nature of Narkanda left both of us thinking whether we were her to date each other or the Nature.
The Journey started from Shimla in the morning and we drove towards Theog. Once we reached the theog, there came the first Milestone. One roads to your right leads to Rohru and the left to Narkanda. As we moved ahead of Theog, we started the feeling like the Mountains, Apple orchids staring on us. It seemed that the beautiful surroundings were breaching our privacy. Unlike talking to each other which we had done till date on any trips, we were talking about the natural beauty outside. Every Curve on the road appealed us to click it. Good Road Conditions, Cool and Calm Surroundings and a soulmate sitting in your neighbouring seat, it adds up to your satisfaction of traveling to a hill station. After plenty of Clicks on the way we reached Narkanda in nearly 3 Hours only to find that there was much more to it than a beautiful drive.
Significance of Narkanda: The nearest Place to Shimla, where you can get the first and last glimpses of Snow.
Hatu Peak: I and my would be were in for an adventure and if you are so, nothing beats the Hatu Peak as far as Narkanda is concerned. We both planned to first visit the Hatu peak and then Explore the rest of the places of attraction in Narkanda. We were supposed to be free by afternoon with all the sightseeing However, the afternoon reached us at Hatu Peak itself. As we started from Narkanda, towards Hatu Peak, the First thing greeted us was a naroow road. A Bit Scary in the beginning and pleasant later serving up the perfect environment for the 2 of us. To add to it the curviness of the road made my would be to catch hold of my arm giving me a feel of how much She trusts me. Nothing would beat that feeling ever. How cautious She wanted me to be while driving was another example of her care for her better half I guess. 7 KMs journey was full of emotional turbulence. Driving between the Oak trees was as fascinating as sitting beside your would be.
Hatu Temple: As soon as reached Hatu Peak, the first thing I remember telling her was “You are as beautiful as this valley” and it left her awestruck. Mesmerizing scenic views, Cool Breeze across your ears and we two together hand in hand starting marching toward the Hatu Temple. A Beautiful piece of wooden architecture, The Temple is said to be dedicated to Mandodri (The Wife of Ravana). Also the peak represent the place where Pandavas cooked food during their Agyaat Vaas (Also used by an Camping site as their brand name). After listening to the beliefs of lcoals present at the temple regarding the fulfilled wishes of various persons, two of us became extremely hopeful of having a great relationship together.
Stokes Farm: After exhausting our words and feelings to appreciate nature during our Hatu peak visit, we started moving towards the Stokes Farm. A Place believed to be the origin of apple farming in the region. It is situated at a distance of 14 KMs from Narkanda at a place called Thanedar. Beautiful valleys and surroundings remain constant. The farms were established by Samuel Satyanand Stokes and are responsible for boosting apple production in Himachal. It was a new experience for both of us to see apple orchids so close and to cap off it offers you a free guided tour spilling the beans to Apple Growing. The simple feeling of planning and nurturing something was evident from this place and it left a mark on both of us as we scrolled across the farm hand in hand together.
Tanni Jubber Lake: A Small lake in between dense forest is surrounded by a stone pathway and beside a Nag Devta Temple. It is situated approx. 11 KMs from Narkanda. The temple holds a lot of significance for the local residents. After all the tiring day, you can sit beside this lake and let your partner spend some time resting her Heads on your shoulder.
This was it though we wished to visit more places around Narkanda such as Mahamaya Temple, and Kacheri and all but we were exhausted and we wanted to go back to Shimla as well. Though exhausting, It was a day full of Joy. Nature and my would be both helped in healing the tiredness and gave me confidence of driving towards Shimla. We returned to Shimla with a wish to visit Narkanda again and spend a night together at camp site.
