We had heard and read a lot about the beautiful experiences of Kalka Shimla Rail and thus we wanted our travel agent to make this experience a part of our itinerary to Shimla and Manali. 

After the Initial standard package discussions, I straight away asked the executive at Tour Crafters If I could get the Kalka Shimla Rail Tickets. And Yes came the answer, but they advised me to shift my pick up and drop to Chandigarh against earlier planned Delhi. We, both were so wanting to experience the route that we agreed to the change in plan and were ready to pay the extra chunk from our pockets. It settled in a couple of days and we got the confirmation that we were boarding the train in the days to come. There started the wait. The first day of our trip. We were so excited about the Kalka Shimla Rail that started exchanging the details available on Google. Here is a brief of what we went through on google.

It is British Era Railway Line. It is 02 Feet 06 Inches narrow guage railway line. The Epic Route in 95 KMs, take you from a Height of 650 mtrs above sea level to 2075. Not only this, The route contains 988 Bridges and 109 Tunnels. Though due to landslides now the number of tunnels has been reduced to 102 in Use. If this wasn’t enough you get to see the lot of Beautiful scenic views of the valleys. The day arrived, we packed our bags from Mumbai and off we came to Chandigarh. We got transferred to Kalka and there we go, we boarded the train with our cameras ready to capture everything we came across.

The real experience was far far better than what we had read. We were left overwhelmed. Mesmerized by the Nature, Stunned by the beauty of villages and valleys beside the railway track and taken over by the joy of experiencing the Kalka Shimla Rail. The magical gracious speed of the train was totally different from the one we were used to in the cities. The tunnels were scary at times but approaching them and leaving them was equally joyful experience. Kalka Shimla Rail not only gave us a glimpse of beautiful village but also took us in the era of British Architecture in term of tunnels and bridges. The sounds of peacock was one of the sweetest things we both heard. The experience of Kalka Shimla Rail is something we both could not explain in words after boarding off. We could hardly click anything because we were busy experiencing it.

It was a lifetime experience. It was serene. Kudos to Kalka Shimla Rail. The UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason.
