Naldehra, a hill Station in Shimla, is situated at an approx. distance of 20 KMs from main Shimla City and at a height of approx. 2000 mtrs. Above the sea level. Naldehra, which happens to be home of one of my close mate, offers a great experience to visitors in terms of Its Lush Green surroundings, a sneak into the creative approach of the British Era and amazing people apart from the various activities.
Naldehra is home to Mahunag Temple, which is dedicated to the Serpant God and this is how it derives its name. Naldehra was discovered by Lord Curzon, The British Viceroy.
Travel agencies seldom include it in the standard itineraries owing to varied reasons such as lack of time with the guests or being on another side of the regular route, however, as per my experience one must get the itinerary customised itinerary and visit one of the best places of attraction in Shimla.
Places to Visit in Naldehra:
Mahunag Temple – One of the key features of the destination, is often the center of crowd pulling factors especially if we talk about the locals. The Temple is dedicated to Hindu Deity “Serpent God”.
Golf Course – Another attractive places to visit in Naldehra, is the oldest Golf Course having 9 holes. If you visit the place, you are in treat for a mesmeric view of Golf Course Surrounded by lanky Cedar and Deodar Trees.
Naldehra Heights – A tiny collection of small rock mountains, will leave you overwhelmed, both by the looks of it and the adventure you feel while experiencing it. Being a Himachali, I loved it so probably you are an outside you gonna be in awe of it.
Things to do in Naldehra:
Visit Mahunag Temple – In Starting, Pay prayers at the Mahunag Temple. You never know when and where your prayers get answered. So paying prayers does not take anything out of you except a few minutes of yours.
Horse Riding – Although Horse riding is also available in Kufri, But In Naldehra, You get a less crowd, a cleaner surrounding and a safer environment. Enjoy pony rides with your family, friends and Kids in nominal prices while being cuddled by the beautiful Cedar and Deodar trees.
Walks around the forest – The Naldehra visit, is incomplete without the walk amidst the forest. You feel the giant trees are beating the Sun in touching the earth. Enjoy the coll breeze whistling in your ears apart from witnessing the result of nature being left to be nurtured on its own.
Try to Climb the small rock mountains at Naldehra Heights – Go to Pajog, and indulge in an adventure of climbing the small rock mountains. Try smaller first and then gradually increase your climbs as you grow in confidence. This is going to be an amazing experience. I enjoyed it more than the words of my friend. It was mesmerizing, it was fun. And to add to all of that I could see the various parts of Shimla like, Sunni, Tattapani, The Satluj River, Shali Tibba, Rampur apart from the local surroundings.
Hop On to the Roadside Food Stalls – After all the climbings and walks, you may get hungry for sure and what best than the road side food stall when you are hungry. They will serve you all kinds of Fast foods and believe me it can be finger licking the least.
Revolving Restaurant – Naldehra is also home to plenty of good hotels. Being home to many big hotel chains such as Sarovar Portico and Club Mahindra, It also is home to The Chalets Naldehra which offers you with a revolving restaurant. So if your pocket allows it is also a thing to do in Naldehra.
